Celebrate 10 Years of the SBA Course!

Calling all alumni, current SBA students, instructors, guest instructors, sponsors and supporters of NaSBAP and the SBA Course! Seattle Central Community College one of the founders of the SBA course and the first SBA course provider, will host an anniversary celebration commemorating 10 years of Sustainable Building Advisors on September 17th, 2009 at Seattle Central Community College. Join us and Seattle Central Community College as we toast to the past and look forward to the future. This is a great opportunity to meet SBA alumni and current students, as well as reconnect with instructors and guest lecturers from regional courses. SBA Course becomes AIA Approved!
The SBA Course has been approved for 100 Learning Units (LUs) through the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The course is also approved for AIA's Sustainable Design (SD) requirements. Many other professional organizations outside of AIA offer continuing education credit for AIA-approved courses. Check with your organization to learn more.
NaSBAP at Living Future Conference 2009!
Interested in learning more about the SBA course from current instructors, alumni, and NaSBAP board members, while also learning about three fascinating case studies presented in a fun and imaginative way? The SBA Information Session + Student Showcase held at the Cascadia Region Green Building Council Living Future conference in Portland, OR is the perfect opportunity! Open to conference attendees as well as the public, this is a chance to see three alumni teams present their final SBA presentations, and learn more about how you can become involved with SBA in your area! Details: Friday, May 8th, 2009 4:00-5:30 pm at 'The Nines' in Portland, OR.

Council Announce Partnership in Sustainable Building Education
We are pleased to announce that as of March 2008, NaSBAP’s Sustainable Building Advisor course will be integrated into a suite of national educational services offered by the newly formed
- Workshops, lectures, and seminars to provide a general understanding of sustainability and the green building movement;
- NaSBAP’s Sustainable Building Advisor (SBA) course and certification exam; and
- Advanced training for practicing professionals, including the Living Building Challenge.
NaSBAP will continue to administer the national SBA course through regional providers and operate as a separate 501(c)3 non-profit entity, with the additional benefits of the SBA course becoming an integral element of the Academy. The Academy will offer SBA students and educators increased resources, learning opportunities, and networking capabilities within the national green building community.

NaSBAP becomes a USGBC Approved Education Provider
The
USGBC Education Provider
Program (EPP) offers a listing of professional development courses
approved and endorsed by the US Green Building Council. The SBA course
is approved as a Level 400 Mastery Course under the EPP.
The USGBC EPP logo is a registered trademark owned by
the uSGBC and is used by permission.

NaSBAP Joins NISOD
In
2008, NaSBAP became a ‘Friends of NISOD’ – The National Institute
for Staff and Organizational Development. NISOD
has more than 700 community college members, and is committed to the continued
improvement of teaching and learning at the community college level.
